_about SHIPTRON Trading
the origin of..._about SHIPTRON Trading
the origin of..._Shiptron Trading BV is the trading company of Shiptron Holding BV. Shiptron was founded in 1987 and has specialized over the years in the field of maritime communication equipment.
In addition to the VHF radio, which has been the primary means of communication for shipping for decades, the GMDSS system was introduced in the 1990s, whereby various electronic devices became part of the safety equipment on board.
The AIS system followed in 2003. The AIS equipment on board helps prevent collisions and together with the AIS equipment on shore, the traffic flow on rivers and canals can be improved. AIS also plays a role in coastal surveillance and drug control.
True Heading and beyond
In 2006 Shiptron sought cooperation with True Heading in Sweden, a pioneer in the AIS field, to be able to offer this equipment for pleasure craft in the Netherlands as well.
In 2010, a joint venture called True Heading Nederland BV was established together with True Heading AB, Sweden, to jointly market the well-known True Heading Class A inland AIS in inland shipping. In addition to the AIS equipment, Hemisphere GNSS satellite compasses were offered under its own True Heading brand. Nowadays we offer Comnav satellite compasses.
Ocean Signal
In 2014, the exclusive distribution in The Netherlands for Ocean Signal followed, a rapidly emerging English manufacturer that, building on previous experience in maritime communication equipment, offers a complete range of GMDSS emergency beacons for both commercial and pleasure craft.
Standard Horizon – AC Antennas
The range was completed with Standard Horizon VHF radios (Japan) and the well-known quality antennas made by AC Antennas from Denmark.
100% SHIPTRON Trading
In July 2020, True Heading Sweden decided to take a different path. Shiptron Holding is now 100% shareholder and will continue the trading company under the name Shiptron Trading BV. This also guarantees the continuity of support for True Heading products.
