Description
_Miniplex-Lite
The MiniPlex-Lite is the most simple and hassle-free NMEA multiplexer. Building on the proven technology of our existing multiplexers, we developed it as a simple, robust instrument, that is easy to install, with no complicated configuration.
The MiniPlex-Lite plugs directly into a computer’s USB port and works with any existing navigation software through the virtual COM port created by the driver. However, it is not a standalone multiplexer and can only be used in combination with a computer. A unique feature is the automatic detection of the communication speed on input 3. This input automatically detects whether an ordinary navigation instrument is connected (4800 bps) or an AIS receiver communicating at a higher speed (38400 bps).
The communication speed between the MiniPlex-Lite and the computer is much faster than usual speeds with NMEA. Therefore, there will never be an overflow or data loss. Even when heading information or waypoints are sent from the computer to the MiniPlex-Lite, any overflow will be overcome by the so-called flow control. This is an option that can be set in the communication options in most navigation software.
The MiniPlex-Lite works completely transparently. Incoming data is buffered and sent to the computer as complete NMEA sentences. Data from the computer, such as heading information for an autopilot, is available on the NMEA output. The multiplexer does not transmit information from its own inputs to its own output. The navigation software used is responsible for forwarding selected NMEA data.
